REAL, RAW & CANDID TALK AT RMIT
Masters of Fashion (Entrepreneurship)
Lessons from the Trenches of Entrepreneurship
Every few months, Deon St.Mōr returns to where it all began, RMIT, to speak to students in the Masters of Fashion (Entrepreneurship) program.
But this isn’t your typical guest lecture. Deon doesn’t show slides or read from theory. He delivers unfiltered, lived experience, decades of it, drawn from a career spent building, scaling, and leading some of Australia’s most original and successful brands.
With raw honesty and sharp insight, Deon gives aspiring entrepreneurs a real-world view of what it takes to make something from nothing: the sleepless nights, the creative breakthroughs, the near-misses, and the moments of triumph that only come through perseverance and grit.
He shares lessons from his 30+ year journey, from founding global brands like MOR Cosmetics and pioneering the world’s first urban glamping hotel, to launching disruptive startups and advising emerging founders. Each story is a blend of creativity, commerce, and courage, delivered with humour, humility, and candour.
Deon’s talks have become a highlight for RMIT’s entrepreneurial students, not just for the inspiration they spark, but for the reality check they deliver. He reminds students that entrepreneurship isn’t a straight line or a glossy brand story, it’s a test of endurance, belief, and evolution.
