The BrandLAB
The Curated Retail Placement Agency For Brands Worth Clearing Shelf Space For.
The BrandLAB is a curated wholesale placement agency for accessible premium beauty, lifestyle, and body care brands. It exists because most wholesale agencies treat great brands like catalogue entries. A SKU in a spreadsheet. One of hundreds competing on price, placed anywhere and everywhere, which in retail means nowhere.
We built The BrandLAB to do the opposite.
Selective by design. Intelligence-driven by nature. Built by people who have spent decades on both sides of the retail relationship and know exactly what it takes for a brand to earn its place on a shelf that matters.
What We Do
The BrandLAB operates across four core pillars that together form a complete retail ecosystem.
Curated Brand Edit. We carry a core group of brands. That is it. Each one hand-selected, strategically onboarded, and given intentional placement. We are not running a catalogue. We are running a gallery. Scarcity creates desirability. Desirability drives retailer demand.
Retail Performance Intelligence. Regional sell-through data. Price elasticity insights. Display-to-sales conversion metrics. Seasonal retail playbooks. We know what is moving, where it is moving, and why. No other agency in this space delivers this level of intelligence to brand partners.
Merchandising as a Service. Display concepts. Shelf architecture. POS assets. Visual storytelling kits. We design the in-store experience, not just negotiate the placement. We sit beside the brand on the floor, not just on the invoice.
Limited Distribution. We do not put brands everywhere. We place them. In the stores where they belong, with the buyers who understand them. Selective placement preserves brand equity and creates the conditions for real, sustained retail growth.
The Retail Access
The BrandLAB operates a three-tier channel strategy, Melbourne-first and then national. Melbourne is Australia's most design-literate retail market. Credibility here opens every other market in the country.
Tier One covers premium anchors. Selected David Jones, luxury lifestyle boutiques, premium day spas, and design-led gift and homewares destinations.
Tier Two covers design-conscious independents. Fitzroy, Prahran, Paddington, Newtown, Fortitude Valley, gallery shops, museum retail, and inner-suburb lifestyle stores.
Tier Three covers premium pharmacy and health. Terry White Chemmart, Blooms The Chemist, independent compounding pharmacies, and selected health lifestyle destinations.
What Brand Partners Get
Every brand in The BrandLAB edit gets access to the same platform, the same retail relationships, intelligence, and merchandising capability built over three decades across some of Australia's most recognised beauty businesses.
Retail placement in Australia's most design-conscious stores. Full account management across every buyer relationship. Monthly retail performance reporting covering sell-through, regional performance, price positioning, and seasonal movement. In-store merchandising including display concepts, shelf architecture, and POS assets. Brand story activation with buyers and retail staff. And where needed, direct access to LiquidLABS for brand repositioning, architecture, and transformation work.
Who Makes the Edit
Not every brand makes it in. That is by design. Selectivity is what makes The BrandLAB valuable to the brands inside it and to the retailers we work with.
The non-negotiables are product quality that holds its own on a premium retail shelf, a brand story worth telling, accessible premium pricing that is aspirational but achievable, stock capability for consistent national supply, and a genuine commitment to in-store merchandising and activation.
The signals that get our attention are founder-led brands with a clear personal point of view, existing proof of consumer demand through DTC, press, or social, a distinctive visual identity that merchandises well, and category disruption that does something the market has not seen before.
We pass on mass-market positioning, brands without a clear story or founder identity, brands already distributed too broadly, and anything that conflicts with the quality of our edit.
How We Work Together
The commercial model is built around alignment. We grow when you grow.
A monthly representation fee covers brand management, retailer relationships, account maintenance, reporting, and strategy. A commission on all wholesale invoice value placed through The BrandLAB means we earn when you sell. The initial term is twelve months with a ninety-day performance review at month six. Brands retain full direct-to-consumer capability while The BrandLAB manages wholesale exclusivity within agreed Australian retail channels. In-store display and activation are scoped separately. Quarterly performance reviews track placement targets, sell-through rates, and account growth against milestones agreed at onboarding.
Full transparency. No surprises. Just data.
The Onboarding Journey
Six steps from conversation to shelf.
Initial conversation where we talk through your brand story and what The BrandLAB looks like in practice. Brand review against our criteria within ten business days. Partnership discussion covering commercial terms if we are aligned. Market readiness check across packaging compliance, stock levels, pricing architecture, and launch collateral. Retailer targeting where we identify the right stores, pitch your brand to buyers, and tell your story. Then placement, performance, and scale where first placements are secured, in-store merchandising is activated, and quarterly reporting begins.
The People Behind It
The BrandLAB was founded by Deon St.Mōr and Seray Izlemek. Between them, more than five decades of building, placing, and scaling premium consumer brands across Australian and global retail.
Deon St.Mōr founded MOR Cosmetics in 2001, scaled it to distribution across 15 global markets, and built one of Australia's most recognised premium beauty brands from scratch. Japan alone generated five million USD annually. MOR was ranked number twelve on the BRW Fast 100 with 169 percent revenue growth. He has since built category-defining brands across beauty, lifestyle, hospitality, and food, and brings 30 years of brand architecture, creative direction, and global commercialisation to every engagement.
Seray Izlemek spent years as Sales Director at MOR Cosmetics, building and managing a national retail network of 450 accounts across Myer, David Jones, Priceline, Bed Bath and Table, national galleries, museums, and zoos. She launched MOR Essentials and Premium into pharmacy, securing 1,300 accounts in year one, and delivered over 120 percent year-on-year growth across homewares and pharmacy. She currently serves as Managing Director of Insight Sales and Distribution and brings 20 years of national retail network leadership to The BrandLAB.
The Ecosystem
The BrandLAB sits within an integrated brand commercialisation ecosystem alongside LiquidLABS, the brand build and transformation agency, and Wolf Tribe, the brand and community platform. Brands enter through LiquidLABS, get built or rebuilt to retail-ready standard, and flow into The BrandLAB for placement, distribution, and scale. Real-time retail intelligence from The BrandLAB feeds back upstream to sharpen new brand briefs and inform go-to-market strategy across the entire pipeline.
The LAB before the shelf. The edit before the placement.
Based in Melbourne. Placing nationally. Building globally.
